Chocolate pear cake recipe


No fuss, mix together chocolate cake for treat day.


200g dark cooking chocolate, finely chopped

120g unsalted butter

3 eggs

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 1/3 cup plain flour

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 tbsp cinnamon powder

1 pinch salt

2 pears, cubed

Icing sugar



Preheat your oven to 180°C. Line the bottom of a 25cm springform pan with baking paper.

Place chocolate in a heat-proof bowl with the butter and mix over heat. Set aside to cool down.

Whisk together on medium high speed eggs and sugar for about 5 minutes, or until it has doubled in volume and is very bubbly. Add chocolate mix to combine.

Add in flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Slowly mix and stop as soon as combined. Gently mix in pears.

Pour the cake batter into the pan. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Leave to cool down completely before removing from the pan.

Dust with icing sugar.
